Wade Barrett Says It’s Important For Guys Like Roman Reigns Not To Lose Too Often
Wade Barrett says that stars at the level of a Roman Reigns should not be losing too often for their value’s sake. Solo Sikoa picked up a pinfall over Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel in six-man tag team action, and Barrett was asked by AceOdds in an interview recorded before the PPV about how a loss might affect Reigns.
“Yeah, it’s always difficult when you have a star the size and level of Roman Reigns,” Barrett said (per Fightful). “You don’t want to see those guys losing often because every time they lose, their value in the loss decreases. It gets to a point where I think we saw John Cena a few years ago losing every match he had. Whenever he came back, he would lose. Okay, well, it doesn’t actually mean anything when you beat John Cena now because almost everyone on the roster has beaten him at this point.”
He continued, “You have to keep it important but similarly, I think if Roman does end up taking a loss here, it just serves as a warning. Hey, everything you thought you had in this industry, you were the top dog, you’re no longer that guy. What are you going to do to make sure you can climb back up the mountain and become number one again? It’s going to add fuel to Roman Reigns and his motivation to reconquer this industry.”
Reigns will appear on tonight’s episode of WWE Smackdown.
