Randy Orton has been receiving calls from a mystery caller for weeks now. This week’s WWE SmackDown is expected to feature the reveal of the figure connected to Randy Orton’s recent storyline, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The reveal was reportedly planned for the April 3 episode, following several weeks of buildup. Dave Meltzer noted that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson fits the bill to be the mystery man, but sources within WWE have reportedly denied that it will be him. That said, he notes that if it was indeed Johnson, only a few people, likely including Nick Khan, Triple H, and maybe Cody Rhodes and Orton, would be privy to that information.
Meltzer adds that there is a name that is known within the inner circle of WWE, and that while the name they’ve been given may be an attempt to misdirect them so that the news doesn’t leak, they seem to feel confident that the name they have been given is accurate (i.e. not The Rock).
The timing of the reveal is notable, as the April 3 episode takes place in Randy Orton’s hometown of St. Louis. As of now, the reveal remains scheduled for the April 3 broadcast, with further details expected to be clarified during the live episode.
