WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs Preview
This Sunday, the WWE presents the final pay per view event of the year from Boston, MA in the TLC show. Here are my predictions.
NEW DAY vs. LUCHA DRAGONS vs. THE USOS: LADDER TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
The tag team title match features the most over act on the WWE roster in the New Day. Even though I feel that the overexposure that the trio has been getting lately may do the team more harm than good, the act isnβt stale yet. From a βworkingβ standpoint, the Usosβ are probably the best tag team in the company. As for the Lucha Dragons, even though they do have two victories against the New Day in recent memory, I donβt see them on the tag team championship level. That leaves the New Day or the Usos. I think the WWE will continue to ride the New Day gravy train, and will probably turn them face in the near future. WINNER: THE NEW DAY
RHYNO, TOMMY DREAMER and the DUDLEYS vs. THE WYATT FAMILY: TABLES MATCH
Hmmm. Thereβs the team that SHOULD win, and the team that will PROBABLY win. The Wyatts are the bigger act for the WWE in the long term. They should be the ones that get the win. The Dudleys, Rhyno, and Tommy Dreamer quartet are a nostalgia act. Usually nostalgia acts win because the fans donβt want to see their legends lose. However, I think with WrestleMania on the horizon, the WWE will look at what is best for their business in the long run. I donβt expect the Wyatts to go from challengers to the reunited Brothers of Destruction, and follow it up with jobbing to the latest ECW reunion squad. WINNERS: THE WYATT FAMILY
ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. JACK SWAGGER: CHAIRS UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH
Didnβt we already suffer through this feud two years ago? It sucked back then, and is even worse now. The reason is because Del Rio hasnβt been βoverβ since he returned. Jack Swagger hasnβt been around for a while. When he was around, Swagger wasnβt exactly an upper mid-card contender. Now, heβs been given his first major storyline in over a year, and itβs to be the top contender for the United States Heavyweight championship? Does the WWE really expect the fans to buy this feud? This week, Del Rio kicked Zeb Coulter to the curb. That act would normally make Del Rio a face. However, with Del Rio in the group the βLeague of Jobbers,β I mean βLeague of Nations,β it wouldnβt make sense for him to turn. Therefore, I expect Coulter to reunite with Jack Swagger. His possible interference could be a valid reason to get the belt off of Del Rio. However, when you combine the fact that you donβt want your top new heel group to already be a bunch of jobbers, and your goal this year was to elevate the US title, you canβt put the belt on Swagger. WINNER: ALBERTO DEL RIO
CHARLOTTE vs. PAIGE: DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Whoβs the face? Whoβs the heel? Does anyone know? Does anyone care? It started out as a clear cut storyline. Paige turned on Charlotte and was the heel in the program. However, since then, Charlotte has shown heel tendencies, and Paige is still also acting like a heel. If the WWE was going to start a Charlotte heel turn, they should have waited until after the program with Paige ended. The easiest prediction to make is that the crowd will be dead throughout the match. Iβm going to go with Charlotte, because itβs still too soon for her to drop the belt. WINNER: CHARLOTTE
KEVIN OWENS vs. DEAN AMBROSE: INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Iβm going to look at the WWEβs booking history for this match. At the Survivor Series, Dean Ambrose defeated Kevin Owens. The WWE loves their 50/50 booking philosophy. I canβt see Kevin Owens dropping the belt just yet. If anything, I can see a title change between the two at the Royal Rumble. Should Kevin Owens even lose the title to Ambrose at all? Iβm not sure about that. Thatβs why Iβm going with Kevin Owens to win in the match of the night. WINNER: KEVIN OWENS
SHEAMUS vs. ROMAN REIGNS: TLC WWE WORLD TITLE MATCH
Looking at ratings, and fan interest, it appears that the Sheamus as WWE World champion experiment has failed. While, Roman Reigns hasnβt exactly set the world on fire either, the WWE needs to get the title on Roman Reigns already. If they wait too long, the Roman Reigns Era really will not get over. At least if they put the belt on Reigns already, the WWE can get started on seeing if there really will be a βRoman Empire.β Even though thatβs what the WWE should do, I donβt see them doing that at all at TLC. I think the other βLeague of Nationsβ members will show up during the match to attack Roman Reigns like Bray Wyatt did at the Money in the Bank pay per view. Since this is the WWE, and faces donβt have friends who come to their rescue, I think the interference will benefit Sheamus. WINNER: SHEAMUS
