WWE Reportedly Timed Mexico Tour To Compete With CMLL

WWE’s announced tour of Mexico has been timed to compete with CMLL, according to a new report. As noted, it was announced on Saturday that WWE will be running a tour in Mexico in September, including the first first episodes of WWE Raw and Smackdown taking place in the country in 15 years.

The tour runs from September 9th through the 14th and is happening around TripleMania 34, which takes place over two nights on September 11th in Las Vegas and September 13th in Mexico City. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the timing of the tour was done to compete with CMLL, which is holding its 93rd Anniversary show on September 18th.

CMLL has been on a hot streak in recent months with sell-out shows, and Meltzer suggested that WWE is “trying to screw with the Anniversary Show in a big way.” He said that the CMLL show will still sell out, and that both nights TripleMania and WWE Raw will likely sell out as well.
