XPW News: Vic Grimes Out, Sabu Wants Webb In
Big Vision Entertainment sent out the following update on the XPW Cold Day In Hell show:
After hearing that Vic Grimes was out of the main event at Cold Day in Hell due too a severe knee injury, a representative for Sabu called and informed XPW officials that the former XPW World Champion wanted the man who stole the title from him, “White Trash” Johnny Webb to be named Grime’s replacement. That change would make the main event Sabu & Homeless Jimmy vs. Raven & Webb.
Why the heat with Webb?
XPW fans will remember the swerve seen round the world when at Damage Inc. (August 2001) Webb, disguised as Rob Black, helped the XPW owner beat Sabu and his manager Lazie in a match where the title could change hands if Lazie was pinned too. Black pinned Lazie and then rewarded Webb with the belt. He would go on to successfully defend the title against the likes of Vampiro, Sandman, and Terry Funk.
But, Sabu never got his rematch.
Now, years later, and even with the title not at stake, Sabu wants revenge!
XPW officials are expected to announce Grimes’ official replacement next week.
XPW has released a 10-minute cut of the original match from Damage Inc. on YouTube:
