Legion’s Upcoming Season Will Be Its Last
David Haller’s journey on FX is coming to an end this year. Legion will end after its third season, FX announced on Monday at the TCA winter press tour (per THR). The show is set to premiere that third (and last) run in June.
This isn’t a huge surprise, to be honest. Noah Hawley (Fargo), who created the show, was clear from the start that he had a plan for the show’s story arc that would run three seasons and no more. However, those tidbits tend to be forgotten when the show becomes a fan-favorite and a relative ratings hit. Even with the second season suffering heavy drops from the first, Legion remained a respectable performer last season.
The series is based on the X-Men character created by comics legends Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz and follows David Haller (Dan Stevens), a man who believed he was schizophrenic but discovered he might be the most powerful mutant in the world. With help from a team of specialists, David harnessed his unique abilities and learned he’d been haunted by a malicious parasite. Now, David is all that stands in the way of Amahl Farouk (Navid Negahban) from attaining infinite and world-ending power.
