CM Punk Was Reportedly Tony Khan’s First Choice For AEW
CM Punk has already made his return to wrestling and apparently has been doing so for years. News broke over the weekend that Punk has been secretly showing up at small wrestling events in a mask, sometimes interfering but often not, all with the crowd completely unaware. His most recent appearance was at MKE Wrestling’s “The Last Knight” event this past Friday, where he helped Ace Steel beat Daryck St. Holmes with a GTS.
However if Punk ever wants to return under his real name, he could do so and make a lot of money, while avoiding any possible frustration he might have at working for WWE. During an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio this weekend, Dave Meltzer said that Punk was actually All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan’s first choice for the organization, even before Chris Jericho or the Young Bucks. He noted that if Punk wanted to wrestle, he could do so and make “really good money.”
