As previously reported, former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has a new movie role lined up titled The Last Druid, with the feature scheduled to start filming this summer. During today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer had some more insight regarding McIntyre’s upcoming WWE return.
McIntyre hasn’t appeared in WWE since losing to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42. Meltzer pointed out that both McIntyre and Randy Orton are being advertised for the WWE SmackDown TV tapings later this August.
Although Meltzer, is unsure if the new movie role means McIntyre’s return will be delayd, he reported that McIntyre won’t be back on WWE TV until he completes work on the new historical action movie. Meltzer stated, “I don’t know, I’ve asked, I don’t know if that means he’ll be back in August, or if this delays his return, but I do know he’s not returning until the filming of this movie is over. That I know.”
Drew McIntyre will appear in the movie opposite Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, who also stars in the new Highlander reboot, opposite McIntyre. Crowe portrays Ramirez in the new reboot. It’s expected to be out later next year.
