Sean Waltman Says Going To WCW Changed Vince McMahon’s Perception Of Him
Sean Waltman jumped to WCW in 1996, and he says that doing so changed how Vince McMahon saw him as an on-screen talent. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer weighed in on the topic during his interview with Chris Van Vliet, and you can see some highlights below (per Wrestling Inc):
On if he would have had a shot at the WWE Title if he hadn’t gone to WCW: “Not as 1-2-3 Kid — no. I [had] to absolutely go to WCW. Vince had this, you know … When somebody thinks of you in a certain light, it’s really hard to change the color of that light. So, I had to go, and I think I was successful in WCW — I accomplished the things I needed to down there. I was fortunate enough to be part of the NWO.”
On how his move to WCW changed Vince McMahon’s perception of him: “Vince looked at me differently [when I returned]. Not too long after I returned, I’m working with The Rock for the title on a pay-per-view [Capital Carnage] in the U.K.”
