Kenny Omega Has Not Had Diverticulitis Surgery Yet, Advertised for AEW in Toronto
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Kenny Omega is currently advertised for the March 20 episode of AEW Dynamite in Toronto. He is on a poster for the event along with Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Toni Storm, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Saraya, Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, Christian and Julia Hart.
However, it is unlikely that Omega will be back by then, as he is still dealing with diverticulitis. While Davey Boy Smith Jr. was hit with diverticulitis and appendicitis at the same time, then returned not long after, Omega’s situation is arguably worse. Smith was able to get surgery right away, which aided in his recovery.
Omega, meanwhile, has such severe inflammation that surgery wasn’t possible when he announced his leave of absence. At this time, Omega still hasn’t had the surgery. A decision will be made about surgery in seven weeks. If they decide he needs it, it will put him out of action for a longer period of time.
There is currently no word on when he will be able to return.
Fightful Select adds that he is not factored into current AEW creative plans and the company as ‘no idea’ when he’ll be back.
