Kris Statlander Discusses the Constant Pressure to Perform

– During a recent chat with Renee Paquette on Up Close, AEW star Kris Statlander spoke about her time as TBS Champion. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
Kris Statlander on her losses to Mercedes Mone: “I feel the pressure, I feel satisfaction with knowing that I know what I’m doing, and then I feel the pressure because I’m like, ‘Oh my god, now everyone wants more of this,’ and then I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m tired.’ I lost twice to Mercedes now, if there’s a chance that I go for her again. How do I step up my game even more for a third time if that were to happen?”
On the constant pressure to perform: “It’s a never-ending cycle of constant pressure, but I think I do pretty well under pressure and I have such a desire to prove people wrong. Even if no one is doubting me, I have this need to prove — maybe even just prove it to myself, that I am deserving of the spot.”
Statlander beat Willow Nightingale and Toni Storm for a shot at the #1 spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match last week on AEW Dynamite. The Casino Gauntlet is scheduled for tomorrow, January 15 at AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage in Cincinatti, Ohio. It will be broadcast live on TBS starting at 8:00 pm EST. The winner of the Casino Gauntlet Match will then go on to face AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May at AEW Grand Slam Australia.
