Lyra Valkyria recently looked at the growth of women’s wrestling and said she believes women’s wrestling is in a good place at the moment. Valkyria spoke with the Battleground Podcast and was asked about the growth of WWE’s women’s division, noting that it has broken barriers over the past several years.
“Yeah, 100%,” Valkyria said (per Fightful). “I think around the time where the ‘Give Divas a Chance’ era was exploding, we’ve gone from that to having the Four Horsewomen to having a change in how women are portrayed on WWE, all-women’s pay-per-views, women main-eventing WrestleMania, and to the point where that really needed the focus, now we’re at the point where it’s normal. It’s just normal, we’re very equal, and I think that’s an amazing place to be right now.”
She continued, “I feel like women’s wrestling is just wrestling, and we’re at the best point we possibly can on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. But yeah, I’m always gonna want more time, more platforms, more women’s opportunities, but I think we’re in a very good spot right now.”
Valkyria is the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion and will face Bayley in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on next week’s episode of Raw.
