Mercedes Mone Defends CMLL Women’s World Title Against Persephone, Issues Open Challenge for TBS Title at AEW WrestleDream

As previously reported, AEW star and TBS Champion Mercedes Mone recently appeared on CMLL Informa, calling out Persephone for the all-women edition of CMLL Viernes Espectacular. That match took place last night, and Mercedes Mone successfully retained her title.
Although Persephone put on a spirited performance and left everything in the ring, the CEO still imposed her will on the challenger and held on to her championship. Last night’s event streamed live on Triller and was also available for CMLL members on the promotion’s official YouTube channel.
After the match, Mone announced that she will be heading to AEW WrestleDream to defend her title in a TBS Title Open Challenge Match, indicating that she would put her TBS Title up “against any champion in the world.” So, Mone will be in action later tonight at WrestleDream in St. Louis.
Also, Mercedes Mone called out anyone from the back in CMLL to challenge her for the Women’s World Title. That challenge was eventually answered by Olympia, but Mone declared that their title bout would take place later in the United States. CMLL has not yet announced the details of the title match.
Mercedes Mone Set for Action Later Tonight
Mone is riding high at the moment. In addition to her roster of ten title belts, she became the longest-reigning AEW TBS Champion of all time yesterday at 509 days. She last defended the TBS Championship on the Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite, beating Lacey Lane.
Now, Mone looks to AEW WrestleDream 2025, scheduled for later tonight, where she defends her belt against a mystery opponent. So, Mercedes Mone will be flying from Mexico City back to the United States to defend her TBS Title less than 24 hours after beating Persephone at a CMLL event at the Arena Mexico.
Fans will have to wait until later to find out Mone’s next opponent. AEW WrestleDream takes place at the Chaifetz Arena tonight in St. Louis, Missouri. It will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
