It appears the match placement of John Cena vs. Gunther at this weekend’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event has become a whole saga unto itself. As previously noted, Cena personally expressed that he wanted the final match of his career to go on first this weekend during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. However, Dave Meltzer reported on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that he was informed that the bout order for the live Peacock broadcast is still “not determined” and “in discussion.”

Meltzer also noted Joe Tessitore’s comments, which apparently suggest that Cena vs. Gunther would go on last and be followed by post-show coverage. So, the question remains: Is John Cena vs. Gunther going on first or last at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event? A new report from Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select has more details on the topic.

Regarding the issue of when his match will take place on the show, WrestleVotes Radio reports that a majority of people within WWE want Cena vs. Gunther to close out the show. However, both ideas of the match opening and closing the show have been considered.

WrestleVotes Radio’s report notes that there still aren’t firm details on the placement, which is consistent with Dave Meltzer’s earlier report on today’s WOR show. It’s said that Cena vs. Gunther opening the Peacock broadcast is “on the table.”

John Cena Faces Gunther in His Final Match on Saturday

Ultimately, it appears the WWE Universe will have to wait and see what order Cena’s last match appears in. WWE has not announced what match will kick off or close out this weekend’s card.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, featuring John Cena vs. Gunther in Cena’s last match, takes place on December 13 at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The event will air live on Peacock in the U.S. starting at 8:00 pm ET. It will stream on Netflix internationally.
