Women’s North American Title Official For NXT New Year’s Evil

It’s official: Thea Hail will defend the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Blake Monroe at NXT New Year’s Evil. It was announced on this week’s WWE NXT that Monroe will get her rematch against Hail, who defeated her for the title on the December 16th episode of NXT.

The match was set up in an in-ring promo segment where Monroe came out to demand a rematch. Hail, who was celebrating her title win, agreed to the rematch.

The title change was reportedly not planned and was the result of miscommunication. Monroe reportedly got the wind knocked out of her by Hail’s senton and she tried to get the shoulder up, but was too late.

The updated card for NXT New Year’s Evil, which takes place on January 6th and airs on The CW, is:

* NXT Championship Match: Oba Femi vs. Leon Slater.
* NXT Women’s Championship Match: Jacy Jayne vs. Kendal Grey.
* NXT Women’s North American Championship Match: Thea Hail vs. Blake Monroe.
