Yota Tsuji will put the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on the line at NJPW The New Beginning In Osaka next month. NJPW has confirmed that Tsuji will defend his championship against Jake Lee at the February 11th show in Osaka, Japan. As Fightful reports, Tsuji challenged Lee to face him for the title at NJPW Road to the New Beginning on Tuesday. Lee accepted the challenge and the match has been made official.
The challenge was laid out after Lee and his United Empire allies Jakob Austin Young, Francesco Akira, Great-O-Khan, and Callum Newman defeated Tsuji, Gedo, Taiji Ishimori, Hiromu Takahashi, and Shingo Takagi of Unbound Company.
Lee attacked Tsuji after the latter star captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in a double title match against Konosuke Takeshita at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20. Lee had made his return earlier in the night at that January 4th show.
NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka takes place on February 11th in (obviously) Osaka, Japan. The show will air on NJPW World. The updated card for the event is:
* IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: Yota Tsuji vs. Jake Lee.
* NEVER Openweight Championship Match: Aaron Wolf vs. Ren Narita.
* IWGP Tag Team Championship Match: Knock Out Brothers vs. Yuya Uemura & Shota Umino.
