Kayla Braxton recently looked back at her final WWE interview segment with LA Knight that went a little off the rails. The segment took place on WWE Smackdown at the end of Braxton’s WWE run, which concluded in June of 2024. It featured Knight asking her a series of questions that would prompt her to respond with his catchphrase “Yeah,” but she wouldn’t say it. Some fans were left wondering if the segment was a matter of Braxton forgetting her lines.

Braxton recalled the segment when discussing Knight’s talent at being a “one take and done” interview on TMZ Inside The Ring. She noted that she was acting in character and not taking his bait after he had (in character) disrespected her. Braxton noted that no one in WWE was mad over it, though she caught flak from wrestling fans online. You can see highlights below:

On Who Was The Best At Doing Interviews Done In One Take:

“You know was really good? LA Knight. LA Knight really good at ‘one take and done.’

On Her Last Interview With Knight:

“He was the one who — my final interview with LA Knight, probably my second last show. Got me in some trouble. And I know, they were backstage like, ‘Did you forget your lines?’ I’m like, ‘No! I didn’t forget my lines, he added a whole new–‘ And with us like, I’m trying to stay on stay on track but he’s just so good on the mic.

“And honestly, I take fault for that because I should have just rolled with it. But I was like, ‘I’m not saying Yeah. I’m not saying it back to you.’ Because in the segment, he was degrading me. So why would I say — I’m thinking as an actor and as a prominent broadcaster in the company, Kayla Braxton wouldn’t sit there and let him talk like that to me, and me be like ‘Yeah!’ So I’m like, ‘I’m not saying it.'”

On the Reaction:

So that’s exactly what my thought process was, and they’re like, ‘Did you forget his tagline?’ Did you think I forgot his tagline? But I didn’t actually get in trouble. No one was mad at it. If anything, I think they just thought it was really funny. But the fans definitely got mad at me. The IWC, I’ll tell you what.”
