Mortal Kombat 1 To Release In September, First Trailer Online

The Mortal Kombat franchise is getting a revamp with Mortal Kombat 1, which releases in September with the first trailer online. NetherRealm announced that the new game will take the franchise back to its origins and release on September 19th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo Switch. You can see the trailer below.

The game will start taking pre-orders on Friday at 10 AM PT. Those who pre-order the game get Shang Tsung as a playable character, with PlayStation and Xbox players will also getting Beta access in August.

The official website for the new game described it as follows:

Discover a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by the Fire God Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat 1 ushers in a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and fatalities!

The announced roster for the game thus far consists of Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, and Johnny Cage. The Kombatants are set to be reimagined, with the roster including “Kameo Fighters” which are describes as “a unique roster of partner characters to assist during matches.”
