Alexander Volkanovski

411’s Official MMA Rankings

Featherweight Division (145 lbs)

1) Alexander Volkanovski (22-1)

Height: 5’6

Birthday: September 29, 1988

Currently Fighting With: UFC

Last 5 fights:

– vs. Max Holloway – Win via decision (split) – UFC 251 – July 11, 2020

– vs. Max Holloway – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC 245 – December 14, 2019

– vs. Jose Aldo – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC 237 – May 10, 2019

– vs. Chad Mendes – Win via TKO (strikes) – UFC 232 – December 29, 2018

– vs. Darren Elkins – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC Fight Night – July 14, 2018

Next scheduled appearance:

– vs. Brian Ortega – UFC 260 – March 27, 2021

Comment: Volkanovski’s next defense of the UFC championship is a month away when he fights Brian Ortega. It will be his first fight against someone other than Max Holloway since the spring of 2019, nearly two years ago. Ortega returned to action a few months back and looked better than ever, while Volkanovski is fresh off five-rounds against Holloway which saw him walk away the winner both times.

2) Max Holloway (22-5)

Height: 5’11

Birthday: December 4, 1991

Currently Fighting With: UFC

Last 5 fights:

– vs. Calvin Kattar – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC on ESPN – January 16, 2021

– vs. Alexander Volkanovski – Loss via decision (split) – UFC 251 – July 11, 2020

– vs. Alexander Volkanovski – Loss via decision (unanimous) – UFC 245 – December 14, 2019

– vs. Frankie Edgar – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC 240 – July 27, 2019

– vs. Dustin Poirier – Loss via decision (unanimous) – UFC 236 – April 13, 2019

Next scheduled appearance:

– Unknown

Comment: Holloway needed a big performance last month and that’s what we saw as he battered Calvin Kattar for a unanimous decision win. There were several points the referee could have (and perhaps should have) stopped the fight, but Holloway dominated each round (one judge had the fight 50-42 in Holloway’s favor). He’ll be watching the upcoming title fight at UFC 260 intently as it’s possible he can get another title fight should Brian Ortega beat Volkanovski.
