Bryan Barberena Doesn’t Think UFC 198 Fight Is Punishment
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Bryan Barberena (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) said he doesn’t think his UFC 198 fight with Warlley Alves (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) is punishment for the heavily-hyped beating Sage Northcutt in his last fight. Barberena vs. Alves is set for tonight at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil on PPV.
On fighting another undefeated opponent: “Let’s go – book me, and let’s fight. I’ll fight anyone they put in front of me. I’m not scared to fight anybody. I’m here to test myself. That’s why I’m in the UFC, to fight the best in the world. He’s one of the best in the world and is going to be an up-and-coming prospect. Let’s go.”
On the rumors that the fight is punishment: “I’ve definitely heard that and read it on social media and everything. It just makes me laugh. Whatever. I don’t think the UFC is trying to punish me. Maybe they got a little upset or surprised, I’m sure, that I beat Sage. I’m going to surprise them again on Saturday.”
