Dana White isn’t going to start slow once the UFC returns on May 9th. White spoke with Kevin Harvick on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (per MMA Weekly) and talked about his plans for the show, which will be UFC 249.

“I have a date now for May 9th,” White said. “Listen, I’m not stopping. And the reality is, can it be done? Yes it can be done, it’s just — it’s very expensive. It’s very expensive, and you know, I’m willing to spend the money to do it.”

The datewas revealed by White yesterday as the new targeted date for the show, which was previously set for this weekend but got postponed due to pressure by ESPN to cancel the card in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. When asked how big of a card he’s looking at, White didn’t beat around the bush.

“Yeah well, now I’m back one more fight, you know what I mean?,” he said. “May 9th, I am going to build the biggest, best card that can possibly be built.”

The currently-targeted lineup, which is subject to change, includes an interim lightweight title bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje along with Henry Cejudo vs. Dominick Cruz for Cejudo’s bantamweight title and a women’s featherweight title bout pitting Amanda Nunes against Felicia Spencer. Details on the location have yet to be revealed.
