MMA Junkie reports that the Sacramento Police Department is currently investigating a possible assault involving Nate Diaz and Clay Guida. The incident reportedly happened on Friday at a Combate Americas event. Sgt. Shaun Hampton said that an officer took a misdemeanor battery report at “Combate Americas: Mexico vs. USA,” at the McClellan Conference Center in McClellan, California. Guida was named as the victim and Diaz as the suspect. Guida’s manager John Fosco confirmed that he filed a police report.

The incident reportedly began when Diaz shoved Guida from behind, sending him into a metal guardrail. Guida suffered a cut lip and was blooded. Guida’s training partner Tyler Diamond claimed that Diaz slapped him when he got in the middle of it.

Hampton said that a detective will investigate and decide if there’s enough for an arrest warrant. The DA would then decide whether or not to issue the warrant. The early part of the investigations, including interviews with witnesses and suspects, could take several weeks.

Guida has been campaigning to fight Diaz, and even called him out on Twitter.

He said: “When you sign on that dotted line, before you get in the cage, make sure you get real, real high this time, so when I spike you on your head (and) put you in a full nelson like last time, you won’t feel a thing. See you in Chicago, homie.
