Bryan Kristopowitz: How did you get involved in Paranormal Attraction?
Nicole Cinaglia: I worked with Alex on a couple of other projects and he asked me if I’d like to audition for Officer Evelyn Bennett and I DID. And what an awesome role to play! Super grateful for the opportunity.
BK: How did you approach your character Evelyn Bennett? Did you do any research into policing/being a police officer before working on the movie?
NC: I did not. I trusted my writer and director to give me everything I needed for the role, which they did. On set I had the fabulous Thomas Haley suiting me up every day in my uniform and he taught me how to properly hold a gun and point.
BK: What was it like working with director Alexander T. Hwang?
NC: A blast. He is such a talented and fun human being, and I’m so happy I’ve gotten to work with him three times now.
BK: What was it like working with Brooklyn Haley, who plays Sara? Was it easy to form a bond with her? You have terrific on screen chemistry.
NC: Brooklyn is such a talented and sweet individual. It was so easy to get along with her on and off set. It was an absolute pleasure playing opposite her.
BK: What was the hardest scene for you, as an actor, in Paranormal Attraction? The easiest?
NC: *SPOILER* The final scene was pretty challenging, coming in and out of possession. The easiest? Talking about food (grilled cheese). Haha!
BK: Have you ever had any paranormal experiences in real life?
NC: I did. In the last year I woke up with my face mask on, and I said to myself, “OMG, someone is sitting on my bed, petting my hair.” And I was thinking, my roommate wouldn’t do that, don’t move, don’t look. Then I slightly cleared my throat and the feeling dissipated. I believe it was my Mama visiting me since it was such a gentle experience. She passed 3 years ago. I also pick up on energies depending on where I am. I can feel if something is off like there might be paranormal activity.
BK: You’ve appeared in several horror movies in your career. Do you enjoy working in the horror genre?
NC: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE DOING HORROR FILMS! The more blood the better! lol! I have a killer scream. It’s just so much fun! Very grateful for all the work I’ve had in this genre.
BK: What was it like working on the all-star ensemble horror movie Death House?
NC: Surreal. My scene was with Tony Todd, Candyman himself. And I was like, OMG this is unreal! He is such a kind soul. It was amazing to watch afterwards and see all the familiar faces. So cool!
BK: According to imdb you’ve directed some short films in your career. Is directing something you hope to pursue more of in the future?
NC: YES! What an amazing experience. Just a whole different game all together that I thoroughly enjoy. I can’t wait to learn and gain more experience. It’s pretty challenging when you’re also acting at the same time and wearing multiple hats, but hopefully down the line I’ll be able to pick and choose and focus on one task at a time.
BK: Any moviemaking heroes?
NC: That’s a hard question. Gosh it’s such an exciting time in film (uh quarantine excluded), with all the demand for content, and the content being made. It’s a beautiful time to be a filmmaker and a woman filmmaker at that. So many opportunities out there. I have a lot of friends just pumping out content and we are all extremely supportive of one another. They are my heroes. Sorry if that’s too general. Good question!
BK: Any upcoming projects you can reveal to the world?
NC: I actually am a part of a lot of super-secret projects! Haha! I can tell you I have three upcoming projects and I can’t wait to share them with you! And Killer Rose should be released soon! I also just wrapped my baby, Drift, a post-apocalyptic drama that should be finished in time for festivals next year!
BK: What do you hope audiences get out of Paranormal Attraction?
NC: I hope they get scared 🙂 . And leave saying, “Wow that was fun, well done, when is the sequel coming out?!”
BK: Would you be interested in appearing in a Paranormal Attraction 2?
NC: HAHA! HELL YES!
BK: What is your real life position on grilled cheese sandwiches?
NC: YES! ALWAYS AND FOREVER!
