Christian Bale Weighs in on Joaquin Phoenix Playing Joker

Christian Bale is one of many actors to play Batman opposite a Joker, and he shared his thoughts on Joaquin Phoenix taking on the iconic villain. Bale spoke with ET Canada (per JoBlo) and said he was looking forward to it.

“Joaquin is one of the best actors around, and obviously I worked with Heath [Ledger, who played Joker in The Dark Knight, and it’s a brave thing to follow up that performance,” Balse said. “He always makes really interesting choices and I’m dying to see it. Wish them the best with that.”

Phoenix is currently earning rave reviews for his work in the film, which is set to premiere on October 4th after having debuted at the Venice Film Festival.
