Dave Bautista on Wanting to Gain Respect as an Actor, Avoiding Reading Reviews of His Work
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, actor and former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista discussed his new film, Knock at the Cabin, and his upcoming final outing as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Below are some highlights:
On his role in Knock at the Cabin being a different role for him: “It’s just a different performance for me… I’ve been saying all these years that I wanted to be an actor and not a movie star, I could care less about that. And this was kind of my real chance to prove it, you know, in a leading role.”
Bautista on wanting to earn respect as an actor: “I have a lot of anxiety about it because I have to — you know, now I’m about to be judged, but I’ve been saying it all these years, I just wanted to be respected as an actor.”
On why he tries to stay away from reading reviews: “I’ve read a couple bad ones that really stuck with me and I took personally. I think it’s always easier, you know, to absorb those negative things and they kind of stick with you.”
Knock at the Cabin, featuring Dave Bautista, is playing now in theaters. He returns as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due out on May 5.
