Documentary Alien On Stage Gets Digital Release Next Week
The festival favorite documentary Alien On Stage will finally be available for fans in the US and Canada next week. Indiecan Entertainment Inc. has announced that the film, which won the Silver Audience Award for Best Documentary at Fantasia International Film Festival in 2021, will be available to stream on Apple TV+ and Vimeo on demand on October 8th.
The documentary is directed by Danielle Kummer & Lucy Harvey and centers on a crew of bus driver in the UK who decide to mount a stage production of the 1979 Ridley Scott sci-fi horror classic Alien. They spend a year creating the stage adaptation with little money and eventually, despite setbacks, are invited to a theater in the famed London West End to put on the performance for a night.
I reviewed the film when it screened at Fantasia and called it “a better underdog story than anything Hollywood’s done lately and an enchanting way for any theater kid or movie-lover to spend an hour and 20-something minutes.”
