Marvel’s Eternals got off to a good start in its first day of advance ticket sales, delivering numbers that topped the same numbers for both Shang-Chi and Black Widow. Deadline reports that the upcoming MCU film, which opens on November 5th, drew $2.6 million in its first day of advance sales.

The site notes that number is 86% ahead of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ $1.4 million and +30% above Black Widow’s $2 million. In addition, AMC Theaters said that Eternals had the best day one sales of any film in 2021 for them.

This, of course, does not necessarily mean that Eternals will outperform its MCU sibling films. After all, as you can see above Black Widow had better first-day sales than Shang-Chi by a fair margin but ultimately grossed less in its opening weekend and in overall domestic. Still, it is a good indication of moviegoer excitement for the film and suggests that Marvel may be in for another big hit.

Eternals is directed by Chloe Zhao (Nomadland) and stars Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Don Lee, Lia McHugh, Kumail Nanjiani, Madden, Henry, Gemma Chan, Kit Harrington, and more. It is described as follows:

Marvel Studios’ Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.
