House of the Dragon is coming to HBO Max next year, and the first trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel offers a hint as to what’s to come. HBO released the first teaser on Tuesday morning showing off footage from the series after it was first unveiled as part of today’s HBO Max Europe launch event.

The teaser features the first official footage from the series, featuring looks at Matt Smith, as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, and more.

The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, telling the story of House Targaryen.

The series is created by Martin and Ryan Condal, who is co-showrunning alongside Miguel Sapochnik who directed the pilot and additional episodes. It will arrive on HBO Max in 2022.
