Pop-culture and lifestyle brand Funko has announced its plans for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. This year’s convention will feature the return of the immersive Funkoville on the show floor with Funko’s latest product line, plus a revival of the classic Blockbuster Video chain at the event with a Blockbuster Rewind storefront to purchase new Blockbuster-themed collectibles.
This year’s version of the neighhorhood-like Funkoville experience will be double the footprint of 2022’s version, featuring showcases for Funko, Funko Games, Loungefly, Mondo, and more. The experience will be located at Booth 5341 during the convention and will be available for all attendees from July 19-23.
The live booth will feature various interactive experiences, brand storefronts, and fan-favorite shows, including a donut shop, bowling alley, the Loungefly boutique, and a Mondo gas station to check out some exclusive pop culture collectibles. The con exclusives will also be available for fans to purchase on-site and via Funko.com, FunkoGames.com, Loungefly.com, and Mondoshop.com.
The newest addition to the booth experience this year is a major blast from the past, with the Blockbuster Rewind video store. Fans can travel back to the ’90s and relive the experience of visiting their local video store, and they will be able to browse and purchase the company’s new, innovative collectibles based on classic, iconic films. The collectibles will feature the first collection of the new VHS-themed collectibles in collaboration with Blockbuster.
Speaking on this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Funko’s CEO Brian Mariotti stated, “For 25 years, Funko has been a fan-first company.” He added, “This is why San Diego Comic-Con is a pinnacle moment for us every year, as it provides the opportunity to create memorable moments for our fans through larger-than-life activations. With the Funkoville booth being twice as big this year, we look forward to offering an even better way for fans to immerse themselves in their favorite fandoms.”
