Gina Rodriguez To Play Carmen Sandiego In Netflix Film

Netflix has found their Carmen Sandiego. Deadline reports that Netflix has acquired the rights to Carmen Sandiego for a live-action feature film, with Gina Rodriguez playing the criminal mastermind. She will also produce through I Can and I Will Productions, along with Kevin Misher and Caroline Fraser. Andy Berman of Misher Films is the executive producer.

Last year, Netflix announced an animated series based on the property for 2019, with Rodriguez providing the voice. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt owns the property, with Fraser as the publisher’s head. A line of new books with the character will debut in 2019.

The film will be a standalone film. There is no writer or director assigned to the film yet.
