Joaquin Phoenix is Open to a Second Joker Film, Calls It a ‘Dream Role’
Joker has become the latest mega-success of the fall season, and Joaquin Phoenix is not necessarily opposed to a second go-around. Phoenix appeared on Popcorn with Peter Travers and talked about the possibility of a return to the role which is bringing him critical acclaim amidst its $96.2 million opening last Friday.
“I wouldn’t have thought of this as my dream role,” the actor said. “But now, honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it. I talked to Todd a lot about what else we might be able to do, in general, just working together, but also specifically, if there’s something else we can do with Joker that might be interesting. So, it ended up being a dream role. It’s nothing that I really wanted to do prior to working on this movie.”
Warner Bros. would almost certainly be down for another entry, as Joker is already up to $105.9 million domestically and $258.1 million worldwide on an estimated $55 million budget plus marketing. The movie is now in theaters.
