Netflix’s Wednesday Addams series has found its father figure, casting Luis Guzman as Gomez. Collider reports that Guzman (Traffic, Boogie Nights, Narcos) is set to play the Addams patriarch in the upcoming series Wednesday, joining Jenna Ortega who is playing the titular role.

Guzman follows in the footsteps of previous Gomez Addams actors John Astin (the original series), Raul Julia (the beloved 1990s films), and Tim Curry (the less beloved 1998 straight to video film), as well as Oscar Isaac who voiced Gomez in the 2019 animated film.

Wednesday is produced and directed by Tim Burton and will be an eight-episode series, described as a coming-of-age comedy with a supernatural mystery. The series’ synopsis says it will “chart the titular heroine’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, while also thwarting a monstrous killing spree terrorizing the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body.”

The show does not yet have a production start date or potential release window.
