The live-action Masters Of The Universe movie has jumped from Netflix to Amazon MGM studios, with a release date set. Deadline reports that the long-gestating adaptation of the animated and action figure property has been set up at Amazon with a summer 2026 release date staked out.

Mattel Films will produce the film along with Amazon MGM. The film has undergone a series of moves over the years, most recently (before now) heading to Netflix in January of 2022. It was at Sony before then.

Travis Knight (Bumblebee) is directing the film from a script by Chris Butler. The synopsis reads:

Masters Of The Universe follows ten-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe.
