NBC to the rescue. The broadcast network has revived Brooklyn Nine-Nine after Fox cancelled it, giving a thirteen-episode order according to Deadline.

The police comedy was given the axe by Fox on Thursday, a decision that surprised many and angered the show’s ardent fans. Brooklyn Nine-Nine has never been a stellar ratings performer but has been solid for Fox, and has been a critical and awards success to boot.

“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

NBC’s pickup comes after Hulu and Netflix both passed on reviving the show. Hulu was in talks but ultimately said no to the show, which is expensive after five seasons. Netflix passed in large part because Hulu has rights to stream the past seasons locked down via a previous deal. The show is produced by Universal TV, which is a sister company to NBC under the NBCUniversal umbrella.
