Avengers: Endgame is already one of the biggest films of all-time after just eleven days, but that wasn’t its original name. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (per SHH) that the film was originally going to be a name familiar to comic book fans in Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet.

Joe Russo noted that the film was called Infinity Gauntlet for “quite a long time.” Infinity Gauntlet, for the uninitiated, is the name of the first event in Marvel’s Infinity trio, published in 1991 and created by Jim Starlin, George Perez, and Ron Lim. It was followed by Infinity War in 1992 and Infinity Crusade in 1993.

Endgame continues to race toward box office immortality, as it now stands at $632 million domestically (#7 on the all-time charts) and $2.238 billion worldwide (#2 behind Avatar’s $2.788 billion).
