Patton Oswalt Says Eternals 2 Moving Ahead, Chloe Zhao Returning

A second Eternals movie is on the way, at least according to Patton Oswalt. Oswalt, who voiced Pip the Troll in the post-credits scene of the MCU film, appeared to jump the gun during an appearance on The Today Show and revealed that there is a sequel to last year’s ensemble film on the way, with Chloe Zhao returning to direct.
“They have announced there’s going to be an Eternals sequel,” Oswalt said. “Chloé Zhao is going to direct it. So, hopefully there will be more adventures of Starfox and Pip.”
To be clear, Marvel Studios has yet to announce that a sequel is on the way. The first Eternals released last November and grossed $402.1 million worldwide against a $200 million budget. The film is one of the lowest-rated films in the MCU among critics (a 47% Rotten Tomatoes aggregate score) though it scored much better with audiences as a whole, ranking ahead of such films as the first two Thor films, Captain America: The First Avenger, and the two Iron Man sequels.
Eternals introduced Pip and Starfox, the latter played by Harry Styles, in the post-credits sequence and set itself up for a sequel. Kevin Feige has promised we’ll see more of Starfox and Pip, but has yet to say anything about a second Eternals film on the way.
