Gable, who portrayed the character of the OG El Grande Americano, capped off his legendary feud with El Grande Americano in an epic Mask vs. Mask match at the AAA special in late May 2026.
Despite an amazing performance, Gable ultimately lost the match and was forced to unmask. The Olympian cut an emotional promo after the match, as he gave El Grande Americano his flowers and acknowledged the lucha libre culture.
Gable recently appeared on The Hot Tag Wrestling Podcast, where the host described the Mask vs. Mask match as a piece of art. Chad agreed with the host’s assessment and hailed it as his masterpiece.
“For sure, for a number of reasons. You calling it a piece of art is spot-on for me as a performer. That’s really just the way I kind of look at things nowadays so, but yes, it is my masterpiece so far.”
