Dwane “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam film has found its Doctor Fate, and he is none other than Pierce Brosnan. THR reports that the former 007 has signed onto the film, playing the iconic DC magical superhero. Johnson has since confirmed the casting.

Doctor Fate was created by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman, first appearing in May 1940’s More Fun Comics #55 as Kent Nelson, who was the son of an archeologist. Discovering the tomb of Nabu, he freed the wizard and was trained in sorcery. A founding member of the Justice Society of America, his helmet (and Nabu’s training) has passed to several other versions over the years. Brosnan will be playing the Kent Nelson character.

Brosnan joins a cast that includes Johnson as the titular Black Adam, Noah as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Sarah Shahi and Marwan Kenzari in as-yet-unrevealed roles. Jaume Collet-Serra is directing the film from a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshiryani. It does not have a release datye at this time, but will start filming production next month in Atlanta.
