MATCH THOUGHTS: That ending doesn’t make sense because Torito attacking Goldust should lead to a disqualification. Nonetheless, this match was every other Dust Brothers Matadores match. It was decent but maybe a little too short.

Santino’s Royal Rumble Lottery Spectacular will be on the Network next week at 8 pm.

The Ascension is out and they have a mic. “Some people are upset that we compare ourselves to greatest tag teams of the past. Like the Road Warriors. Truthfully, there are no great tag teams of the past. There is one tag team of the future, The Ascension. Welcome to the wasteland.

The Ascension (Konor and Viktor) vs. Unknown Jobbers
Viktor corners one of them and pounds him into a pulp. He quickly makes a tag leading to some dominant pounding. Viktor hits some uppercuts and clotheslines him to the ouside. Konor is tagged in and throws him into each barricade. Konor hits the other man off the apron and clotheslines the legal man down. Konor grabs him by the hair and tags in Viktor. They hit Nuclear Fallout and Fall of Man follows. 1..2..3.

OFFICIAL RESULT: The Ascension @ 2:00 via pin
MATCH THOUGHTS: JBL seems to be burying the Ascension, which is a surefire way of getting an act over. I do like their double team moves, but they probably should not talk so much on the microphone. I would say they should probably say welcome to the wasteland (which seems to be a Fallout reference) and nothing else. They should let their dominance do the talking. Hopefully, they get a chance to succeed because they feel like a true old-school tag team.

Daniel Bryan will be returning on Smackdown this Thursday against Kane.

Gabriel tries to fight out but Rusev transitions it into a cobra clutch. Gabriel tries to fight out to no avail. Rusev keeps attacking with headbutts. Gabriel gets some moment with a jawbreaker. He connects on a double foot stomp to the head. Gabriel hits a springboard forearm and the crowd comes alive. Gabriel hits some punches and goes for a springboard moonsault. Rusev catches him in a powerbomb. Rusev locks on the accolade. Gabriel taps out quickly. Rusev keeps it locked on after the bell.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Rusev @ 4:00 via pinfall
MATCH THOUGHTS: Gabriel got some token offense. This was more competitive than I figured, but entertaining nonetheless. Rusev got a dominant victory, and Gabriel looked intelligent in trying to hit and run. This match was very logical and made Rusev look great.

Rusev yakuza kicks Gabriel down after the match just to be a jerk in a nice touch.

Now, we get the Macho Man hall of fame introduction highlight package.

Big E lifts Rose and they connect on midnight hour. 1..2..3.

OFFICIAL RESULT: The New Day @ 9:00 via pin
MATCH THOUGHTS: This was the match of the night by far. WWE may be lacking in many areas currently, but six-man tags are not one of them. This was a very fun, easy to watch six-man tag. I liked both teams’ work in this one. This one picked up with just enough time and sped up quickly leading to some awesome sequences.

FINAL THOUGHTS: The opening tag was what you would expect with Los Matadores and The Dust Brothers. The Ascension squash was decent, but I do not understand why they have JBL basically burying The Ascension. The jobbers didn’t even get a nameplate, which makes the jobbers look worse than usual. Rusev and Gabriel had a short energetic match. The six-man tag main event was awesome and made the entire show worthwhile. I only wish they would have cut one of the other matches to give more time to the six-man tag. Nevertheless, this was a decent edition of Main Event, and thank you to any and all who read this recap! Feel free to give your thoughts on Main Event as well in the comments section!
