Speaking recently with Fightful, Adam Priest discussed some details about his work with AEW during the earlier period of the pandemic. Priest shared how his connections at the Nightmare Factory opened the door for him at AEW and how the larger promotion helped out a number of indie talent by offering opportunities at the time. You can find a few highlights from Priest and watch the complete interview below.
On his initial work with the Nightmare Factory: “For a time period, I was working out at the Nightmare Factory before it is what it is now. They would ask me to come work out, I don’t know anybody’s money agreements or anything, but I was there for a while and I would say the person who spent the most time helping me and critiquing was QT. There was a lot of cooks in the kitchen training and helping. I was just there a few weeks, but something personal made me come home and I couldn’t spend two or three days a week there. I spent a lot of time there and got to know Shawn Dean.”
On the atmosphere at AEW during the early days of the pandemic: “I got my foot in the door there, QT asked me to come through Dark and it was different then. It’s not like it was. I was there and getting a lot of matches. It was during the pandemic and they needed a lot of guys for what they were doing. They treated indie guys well. Say what you want about whatever, they paid a lot of guys and helped a lot of guys that weren’t working. A lot guys didn’t do anything but that for two years. They did a lot for indie guys and helped out. I enjoyed my time there, but I didn’t want to be the guy hanging around. I still had some growing to do. I had some bookings there and went on about my business.”
