– Planeta Wrestling recently interviewed WWE Superstar Aiden English, where he discusses his move up to the main roster. Below are some highlights (transcript via WrestlingInc.com).
English on learning his move to the main roster: “We were actually told on the night of WrestleMania 32 in Dallas [Texas]. We were informed that we were going to be coming to [WWE Monday Night] RAW and [WWE] SmackDown and traveling with the main roster every week. So to be told that on the day of the biggest event of the year, and you’re already there, you’re excited just to see the show let alone be a part of that company, and then they tell you you’re getting that big move in your career, I’ll never forget where I was. I’ll never forget how it felt and it was just [an] incredible sense of, I guess, accomplishment, of course, but in a weird way, a sense of relief and this idea of, like, it’s validation of ‘you’re doing something right’. You’re doing something the people want to see, that people want to be a part of, that people are enjoying, and want more of. So there’s that sense of satisfaction of ‘this is right’ and ‘this is going well’ and I’ll never forget how I felt that day.”
On his early success in the WWE: “To be fair, I never expected what [has] come my way in my life and my career, especially since joining the WWE a couple of years ago. This whole thing has been, I know it’s a cliche, but it [has] been a whirlwind, especially the last two months.” English added, “I couldn’t be more excited, I couldn’t be more happy, and I couldn’t be more ready to be in that position.”
English on being part of the New Era of stars: “Well, as part of the crop of NXT Superstars who have recently come up to the WWE, obviously, I’m a huge fan of all of us, but especially, The Vaudevillians. But I would say that the ‘New Era’ is just fine, but I tend to write it with a little bit of flair from the bygone era.”
