On the latest episode of The ARN Show, Arn Anderson shared his memories of the late “Brain” Bobby Heenan while discussing the June 1996 Great American Bash event. Anderson had high praise for Heenan, calling him one of the most talented people he had ever encountered. You can check out some highlights below:
On Bobby Heenan:
“What a character. Probably the funniest, sharpest, quick witted-est guy I’ve ever, ever met. It doesn’t matter what you say. I could say, ‘It’s a skinny pan, Bobby.’ And he would have a retort. And something, something funny, something good. You know, he was such a loss to all of us. When I was with WWF and he walked you out to the ring, you were instantly made a star, right away if you were in the Heenan Family. And he just carried that over to WCW, and he just continued to perform at an optimum level. And everything that he said, people listened to.”
On Steve Austin’s ‘Austin 3:16’ Promo:
“It was as important to what he said, is how he said it. You know, that night Stone Cold was born. He’s no longer just Steve Austin. Stone Cold was born that night. And it was the content and the attitude, and all the things that came together that night. And wow, what a moment in time.”
On the Merchandise Success Of the Gimmick:
“You couldn’t go anywhere without seeing one of Austin’s 3:1, black shirts. Huge, huge. Good for him, I was happy for him. He’s just really a normal guy. Austin, he’s just a guy that — he’s just one of the boys, that’s it. He just happened to catch on and catch on fire, and became something special that will — 25 years from now, they’ll still be talking about Austin and the impact that he made.”
