Chris Jericho Says WWE Gave Into Batista Because of the Photo He Shared on Instagram
– During this week’s installment of his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho discussed the Triple H vs. Batista storyline going into WrestleMania 35. According to Jericho, Batista had been lobbying for a WrestleMania match with Triple H with no success. That is until Jericho shared a photo with Batista on Instagram, which happened back in February.
At the time, this sparked rumors that Batista being in talks with AEW. Then, Batista later started his WrestleMania feud with Triple H. Jericho stated this basically happened because of the photo he shared with Batista. The clear implication being WWE was worried about Batista possibly going to AEW instead, so they finally gave into his pitch for a WrestleMania match with Triple H. To Jericho’s credit, Batista had talked about wanting that match for a while.
When offering his prediction for Batista vs. Triple H, Chris Jericho said, “He [Batista] was lobbying for it, and they were giving him the runaround. And then I went and hung out with him, and I posted the picture of us together online on Instagram. They called him back in 10 minutes! No joke! Funny stuff, right?”
Jericho added his prediction for Triple H to win the match, “That’s the world we’re living, but Big Dave, he’s back. I’m excited that he’s back. The only reason why we know he’s [Triple H] not gonna lose is because the fact that it’s Triple H’s career on the line. I think Batista is back for one and done before he goes and makes $10 million for Guardians of the Galaxy 4. I’m going with Triple H.”
Batista will face Triple H in a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7. The event will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The event will be broadcast live on the WWE Network.
