CM Punk Rumored To Be Featured Superstar in Showcase Mode for WWE 2K26

Insider Gaming has an update on the next planned installment of the WWE 2K video game series, WWE 2K26, which is due out in March. According to the new report, WWE Superstar and reigning World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk will be the featured Superstar of this year’s 2K Showcase Mode in WWE 2K26.

It’s said that CM Punk will narrate this year’s Showcase mode, which will feature three sections of matches. The first section will showcase CM Punk’s favorite matches of his WWE career. There will also be a “What If?” section looking at what his career could’ve been like if he hadn’t have left WWE in 2014.

Lastly, the final section will see Punk take on opponents he was never able to face for one reason or another in a fantasy matchups segment. Punk made his return to WWE in November 2023 at Survivor Series: WarGames that year after the main event, after being away from the company for almost ten years. Punk later made his WWE video game return as a DLC Superstar for WWE 2K24. He later became a base roster member for WWE 2K25.

in 2K Showcase for the WWE 2K series, the game mode acts as aa mini-documentary, with players recreating historical moments or going down a “What If?” road for a wrestler’s career. Past 2K Showcase modes have featured such stars as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and more. The 2K Showcase Mode for WWE 2K25 featured The Bloodline Dynasty.

WWE and 2K Games Have Not Yet Announced WWE 2K26 or CM Punk in Showcase Mode

WWE and 2K Games have not yet announced the official details or release date for WWE 2K26, or CM Punk being the featured Superstar of Showcase Mode. WWE 2K25 launched on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 14, 2025. It later released on the Nintendo Switch 2 in July 2025. It also released with mobile versions for Android and iOS last October.

It should be noted, that although Insider Gaming’s report mentions that the video game will launch in March, Take-Two Interactive revealed in its financial results last November that WWE 2K26 would release in Q4 Fiscal 2026, which would put the game at a July to September 2026 release.

If WWE 2K26 follows that release period, it will be the first time since WWE 2K20 that the game series hasn’t released in March.
