WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes recently spoke about being offered the role of Guile in Street Fighter on The Morning Shift. Rhodes revealed that when he received the offer, he thought it was a joke.
Cody Rhodes revealed he went to visit Legendary Entertainment for what he thought was a general meeting. However, Legendary Entertainment executive Mary Parent and director Kitao Sakurai then immediately offered him the part of Guile in Street Fighter.
Rhodes explained, “I thought when they offered me the part, I thought they were joking. I went in for a general meeting, just chitchat. I was the only one who didn’t know. And the next thing you know, Mary Parent walks in the room. It’s like music’s playing behind her. Kitao’s on the screen. And they said, ‘We love you for Guile. You’re our Guile.’ And I didn’t know what to do.'”
Despite Rhodes being unsure if WWE would accept his dates to film the role, he informed Sakurai and Parent it would be fine anyway. He continued, “I actually lied because they said, ‘Hey, is WWE gonna be okay with the date?’ Like, ‘Of course.’ That’s it. We’ll figure it out, guys.”
Of course, Cody Rhodes was able to work on filming for Street Fighter amid his busy WWE schedule. The movie hits theaters on Friday, October 16.
