Csonka Looks at Jim Cornette’s Impact Departure & More Roster Changes.

– We get highlights from last week’s show.

– We see Lashley, Dan Lambert, Moose and Stephan Bonnar arriving.

– Next are highlights from the Impact vs. AAA feud

WE GO TO THE CRASH IN MEXICOJames Storm & EC3 vs. Fantasma & Texano: Storm and EC3 take control over Fantasma as Texano bails to the floor, just chillin, he wants no part of this. After about 90-secopnds, Texano decides to get involved and brawls to the floor with EC3. Storm tosses Fantasma, and everyone is brawling on the floor. Texano and EC3 spill into the ring, with EC3 controlling and covering for 2. Storm posts Fantasma, and back in the ring Storm accidentally hits EC3, allowing Fantasma to battle back and Texano grabs the bull rope, and he and Fantasma crotch Storm with it. EC3 dumps Texano, and looks to finish off Fantasma but Fantasma hits an enziguri and high cross, covering for 2. He then kicks EC3 to the floor and Texano trips him up. Texano attacks Storm and heads up top. Fantasma knocks Storm into Texano, EC3 back in and Fantasma hits the cradle tombstone and Texano and he fight over the pin. Stream superkicks Fantasma and picks up the win. James Storm & EC3 defeated Fantasma & Texano @ 7:12 via pin [**] This was ok, sort of a meandering brawl with the storytelling coming off disjointed as Fantasma & Texano can’t get along after initially being unified, so now both teams don’t get along, which makes it hard to care about AAA vs. Impact when they no one is unified.

– Drake is on the phone, likely with Patron, and Dutch meets with him and is upset that he missed media appearances. Drake doesn’t give a shit, and says just to put his face everywhere and it will take care of everything.

– Dutch bitches to D’Amore about Drake. Cornette arrives and sides with Dutch as D’Amore storms off.

– Some backstage guys try top set up an interview with Eli Drake, and Drake says he’s too busy. He continues to text.

TO BORDER CITY WRESTLING for clips of oVe vs. Phil Atlas & Brent Banks. We got about four minutes of action, with oVe retaining, but their opponents coming off better than they did.

– We get clips of the Moose & Bonnar vs. Lashley & ATT feud.

WE GO TO PRO WRESTLING NOAH IN JAPAN for GHC Champion Eddie Edwards vs. Naomichi Marufuji. The clips we got were great, which makes me hate that we didn’t get the full match. For those wanting to watch the full match, it came from the NOAH Great Voyage in Yokohama Vol 2 (10.1.17) event. Most peg the match at around ****½. It was a big/clean win for Edwards over one of NOAH’s top men.

– oVe meet and talk about their issues with LAX, and they tease bringing family in. A mystery are arrives and gives the thumbs down. That would be one Sami Callihan, as I speculated on last week.

– oVe meet and talk about their issues with LAX, and they tease bringing family in. A mystery arm arrives and gives the thumbs down. That would be one Sami Callihan, as I speculated on last week.

– Mackenzie Mitchell meets with Drake, and she asks him about to tonight’s match. Drake says he’s busy, and tonight, he and Adonis will take care of business. Johnny Impact & Garza Jr. represent style over substance, and he then dismisses her.

– Laurel Van Mess is double fisting champagne in the crowd.

TO BORDER CITY WRESTLING Petey Williams vs. Kiyomiya vs. Idris Abraham vs. TARIK: TARIK gets tossed to the floor, with Williams working over Abraham with ease. Williams works over both Abraham and TARIK, dominating the match until Abraham rolls him up for 2. Williams takes out Kiyomiya with a dive, takes over on TARIK, picking up near falls. Abraham battles back, but Kiyomiya hits him with a missile dropkick. He works over Abraham, hitting a northern lights for 2. TARIK cuts him off, and hits a benadryller but Kiyomiya kicks out. Williams back in, hits a powerbomb on TARIK, and it breaks down. Williams then hits the destroyer on TARIK and picks up the win. Petey Williams defeated Kiyomiya, Idris Abraham and TARIK @ 5:18 via pin [**¾] That was a pretty good little sprint.

Eli Drake & Chris Adonis vs. Johnny Impact & Garza Jr.: Adonis overpowers Garza to begin. Garza picks up the pace, lays in kicks and tags in Impact, who works over Adonis and covers for 2. Drake cuts off Impact, allowing Adonis to attack and take control. Drake and Adonis work quick tags, taking the heat on Impact and picking up near falls. Really good heat from Drake in particular, he has a good intensity and snap on his offense tonight. Adonis does the dirty work, and rolls Impact back in, allowing Drake to maintain control and pickup near falls. Impact finally gets the rolling Ricky Morton tag to Garza, Garza rips off his pants and gets cut off. Impact now makes his own comeback, Garza joins him and they work over Adonis. Garza up top, Adonis tries to cut him off, Drake leaps up top and hits a superplex for 2. Post break and Adonis works the heat on Garza, keeping him grounded and now works a camel clutch. Garza slips out, hits a kick but Adonis tags in Drake and they continue to control Garza. Garza keeps fighting and manages to make the hot tag, Impact runs wild, hitting the running knee strike on Adonis for 2. Impact hits an enziguri and springboard corkscrew high cross. Drake takes out Garza on the floor, Impact rolls up Adonis, Drake cuts him off but Adonis accidentally hits him allowing Impact to roll up Adonis for the win. Johnny Impact & Garza Jr. defeated Eli Drake & Chris Adonis @ 14:06 via pin [***] This was a good tag match, with Drake & Impact working really hard and looking good. I think it may have been a few minutes too long, as it lost a little steam down the stretch.

– Oh joy, fucking Alberto is returning at Bound for Glory.

TO THE CRASH IN MEXICOTrevor Lee vs. Ultimo Ninja: Ninja is Garza Jr. brother. Lee looks to take early control, but Ninja hits a great spin kick and standing moonsault for 2. Ninja sends lee to the floor; teases a dive and then follows lee to the floor for a brawl. Lee uses the ref as a shield, and hits the apron PK. Back in and Lee takes control, slamming Ninja to the buckles. Ninja battles back, hits a missile dropkick, covering for 2. Ninja then follows with a dive, and back in Ninja hits a springboard kick for 2. Ninja heads up top, but lee counters the moonsault with the boots. The double foot stomp follows for the win. Trevor Lee defeated Ultimo Ninja @ 6:05 via pin [**] The match was technically sound, but was devoid of drama and emotion. They never once made me care about what they were doing, and due to that it cane off flat.

– We get clips of Global Forged…

– We get clips of King Mo talking shit about Moose breaking gym etiquette and getting an ass beating.

Moose w/Stephan Bonnar vs. Lashley w/Dan Lambert: They brawl right away. Moose cuts off Lashley with a dropkick and follows with chops. Lashley quickly fires back, but Moose cuts that off and lays in more chops. Lashley now chokes out Moose in the ropes, and lays in shoulder blocks in the corner. Lambert is talking mad shit to Moose & Bonnar. Lashley takes control as he works body strikes. Moose hits a desperation dropkick, sending Lashley to the floor as we take a break. Post break, and they are brawling on the floor, with Moose in control. Lambert grabs Moose’s leg and that allows Lashley to take control. Lambert then chokes out Moose on the floor, Lashley follows him back out and works him over. Back in and Lashley continues to beat down Moose. Lashley works a side headlock, trying to keep Moose grounded, but Moose gets to his feet only for Lashley to knock him back down. Lashley lays in the strikes, Moose fires back and hits a bicycle kick and clotheslines. Moose then hits a corner dropkick. Lambert runs in and attacks Moose for the DQ. Moose defeated Lashley @ 11:45 via DQ [***] This was a good match, and the non-finish makes sense ahead of the PPV match. Lashley & Moose work well together, and they avoided the one thing that has hurt their past matches, which is going too long. Past outings have been good, but went too long and lost the intensity. They avoided that and it led to a good sell for the PPV match.

– Bonnar in to make the save, he tosses Lashley but ATT arrives and swarms Bonnar, beating him down. Moose gets a chair and makes the save. he then powerbombs an ATT over the top and to the floor onto the rest of the team.

– Moose says at BFG, the tag match will be a six sides of steel match.

I appreciate Impact using their international relationships to try and present a different feel to their weekly show. I have said for a long time that they have to do something new and fresh, so that is appreciated. Nothing was bad on the show, we had solid to good wrestling and some fun clips, but with only one more show to go, I felt that the overall build to Bound for Glory was lacking, and hate that we don’t have an X-Division title match official (only rumored as a multi-man Ultimate X match with Trevor Lee vs. Dezmond Xavier vs. Matt Sydal vs. Petey Williams vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Garza Jr.) at this time. Also Team Impact (Ethan Carter III, Eddie Edwards and James Storm) vs. Team AAA (El Hijo del Fantasma, Pagano and Texano) has yet to be made official. I hope they get some proper build next week.
