OFFICIAL RESULTS
Lucha Underground Title Match: Champion The Monster Matanza Cueto defeated Son of Havoc @ 7:20 via pin [***¾]
Gift of the Gods Title Match: Champion Sexy Star defeated Taya @ 5:38 via pin [**¾]
– Rey Mysterio defeated Pentagon Dark @ 8:42 via pin [***¾]

– We see El Jefe Dario Cueto working out in prison, doing some pull-ups, and a guard arrives and says he mush have friends in high places. He is being released, and HONKY TONK MAN is a prison guard! El Jefe gets all of his processions back, including the giant key and leaves the prison. A limo arrives to pick him up, and Councilman Delgado is there to tell him that the charges have been dropped. A mysterious person is there as well, and promises that if he messes up again El Jefe promises that the temple is back in business.

– Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show, and Vampiro says he is no longer anyone’s master; this is his only job now.

– Dario and the Monster Matanza Cueto are in the ring, and announces Rey Mysterio vs. Pentagon Dark as the main event. And while no one can stop his brother, he is willing to give someone a chance. He reveals his new concept, Dario’s Dial of Doom. He will spin the wheel, and the name he lands on gets a title match with Matanza as long as they haven’t already lost to him. The wheel lands on Son of Havoc.

Champion The Monster Matanza Cueto vs. Son of Havoc: Havoc tried to use his speed and hit and move a lot early, but the power of Matanza was to much and he cut him off with a shoulder block. Havoc was bumping like a champ for Matanza. Matanza ended up posting himself, falling to the floor and allowing Havoc to score with an elbow drop. Back in Havoc continued to control, using a fast paced attack but got caught and plated with a hard belly to back suplex as Dario demanded that he continue the attack. Matanza hit a moonsault into a shooting star head butt for a near fall. Havoc got a desperation choke as Matanza was fighting off a DDT Havoc pulled him to the floor and hit a pretty moonsault to the floor. Back in the ring Havoc hit the double stomp into a moonsault for a near fall, and then transitioned right into an arm bar; Matanza Herc’d him up, but Havoc escaped and hit the springboard cutter for strong near fall. Havoc up top, Matanza cuts him off and follows him up, but he gets sent off and Havoc hit the shooting star press for a great near fall. That was excellent as they had the crowd buying it big time. Matanza scored a toss up wrath of the Gods slam to score the win. That was a very good match, as they made the absolute best of their time. Matanza picks up the clean win, they establish Dario’s new gimmick and Havoc continues to kill it when given the chance. This had great action, a hot crowd and some great near falls and was a great way to kick off the season.

– Dario is in his office and World Wide Underground (Mundo, Black, Evans and Taya) arrive. He wants a title match, but Dario say she lost the last time he was in the temple. Mundo says it was all because of Angelico, and we get a flashback video to the night of Ultima Lucha Dos, where WWU attacked Angelico and then broke his arm by repeatedly slamming a car door on it. They all have a great laugh over it, but Dario refuses the title shot. Mundo then wants a match with Sexy Star for her Gift of the Gods title, but Dario says he doesn’t deserve that either. But he does give it to Taya, because Dario loves fucking with people.

– Ivelisse is in the ring and wants to crush Catrina for costing her matches at back-to-back Ultima Lucha events. She then challenges her to a match at Ultima Lucha Tres. Catrina appears out of nowhere and says to bring it on bitch. Ivelisse promises to kill her. They just booked a match for June, but at least it plays off of the feud and the fact that Ivelisse wants the win at the big event because she was robbed at the big event twice. I just hope that it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.

Champion Sexy Star vs. Taya: The Gift of the Gods Title has never been successfully defended. Solid back and forth to begin, and then we got the angry lady stand off. Star then slapped the shit out of Taya, she slapped back and then hit the clothesline and took control. Taya worked the heat, and connected with the double knees in the corner for the near fall. Taya up top and misses the moonsault, which allowed Star to make her comeback. To the floor they go, Thesz press off the apron by Star connects. Back in and Star gets a cover for 2. World Wide Underground arrived and distracted the ref, but it led to Taya hitting Mundo with the double knees and Star rolling up Taya for the win. World Wide Underground attacked post match, but Trios Champions Aerostar, Fenix and Drago made the save. This was a pretty good match overall, but with a flat finish. Thankfully the post match worked well, as they can do an eight-person tag and also move onto the World Wide Underground trying to get the trios titles back.

– Dario is in his office and on the RED PHONE while also texting. Marty the Moth arrives and is glad El Jefe is back, sent some friends to help Dario in the clink, but wants no discussion about this going forward, because he is an innocent man. Marty wants to conquer the temple, which Dario felt was funny. Dario then said that Killshot was not finished with Marty (due to Marty still having the dog tags), and next week they well have a weapons of mass destruction match between Marty and Killshot. Marty said Killshot better be ready for war. He laughed maniacally, which sort of freaked out Dario.

Rey Mysterio vs. Pentagon Dark: They worked a nice fast paced back and forth, with some lucha passes leading to Rey hitting a RANA, sending Pentagon to the floor and following with a dive. Rey got a cover for 2, but only pissed off Pentagon who laid in some chops and then generally punished Rey. The crowd loves Pentagon, they aren’t booing Rey, but they just love Pentagon. More chops from Pentagon, as he just lights up Rey. Pentagon hit sling blade and then another for a near fall. Pentagon hit a superkick and then he and Rey went to the apron, Pentagon on the ropes and Rey follows, SUPER RANA from Rey gets the near fall. After some back and forth, Pentagon sent Rey to the floor and followed with vicious kicks. Rey fought back, tried the moonsault off of the apron, was momentarily caught but turned it into the tornado DDT. Back in the ring and Rey hit the splash from the rope, but Pentagon kicks out at 2. Pentagon, once again is pissed, and this a package driver for the near fall. he tries it again, Rey arm drags out but misses the 619 and gets destroyed with a superkick. Gut check by Pentagon follows and that also gets a near fall. Pentagon would then drop to the floor and run down Vampiro, and then returned to the ring. Vampiro left as Rey countered the package piledriver, hit the 619 and then the Canadian destroyer for the win. They were really rolling there, but the way they got to the finish (Pentagon having to still have issues with Vampiro) felt really flat, and I am not a fan of Rey winning another huge singles match.

– Post match Pentagon attacked Rey and looked to break his arm, but Dragon Azteca Jr made the save,

– We see Prince Puma in the locker room, reflecting on his loss to Rey at Ultima Lucha Dos. Vampiro arrives and says he knows what he’s feeling. He says Puma may need guidance, Puma refuses but Vampiro says he has some advice. He says Puma has never been the same since losing to Muertes, and he needs to beat him to get it back. Puma was expecting him to have him go after Pentagon, but Vampiro insisted that this was not all about him…

* End scene.

* Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Good
The 411
Lucha Underground is back and they came out of the gate hot for season three. The cinematics are still very good and we got some pretty great wrestling overall this week. I do have to question giving away two title matches AND Rey vs. Pentagon on the same show with no real notice, as it feels that this combination should have been something to build to in week two, three or four of the season. Hell do the Matanza match this week, Taya vs. Star next week and then build to Rey vs. Pentagon in week three. Also, having Pentagon lose again feels very foolish, as he is the most over guy in the company but they seemingly haven’t gotten behind yet. I am not a fan of Rey winning another huge singles match, especially one that really should have had some promotion behind it. There are only so many important and big time Rey matches they can do here, and to give it away like this seems foolish, eve if this isn’t a traditional wrestling show. Episodic TV also builds to major events and returns, this is no different. From an entertainment standpoint this was very good effort, but the booking left something to be desired in my opinion. Despite the criticisms, I am thrilled to have the show back.
