Dave Meltzer Thinks WWE Sees Kiana James As a Bigger Star Than Giulia

Dave Meltzer is of the opinion that WWE sees Kiana James as a bigger star than Giulia, as he noted on a recent podcast. Meltzer made the observation in the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio while discussing this past week’s episode of WWE Smackdown. The episode saw RHIYO defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against James and Giulia, with Giulia taking the pinfall in the loss.

Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the match on the episode, with Meltzer noting (per Wrestling Inc), “I think that they have kind of come to the idea that Kiana James is actually the bigger star than Giulia.”

Alvarez noted that James got the pinfall in the match to earn her and Giulia the title match and said WWE is pushing James. Meltzer noted that he felt WWE treated James better in the women’s Rumble match.

James lasted 27 and a half minutes in the women’s Royal Rumble match, but had no eliminations before Raquel Rodriguez eliminated her. Giulia lasted 15 minutes and 15 seconds and had an elimination in Zelina before Lyra Valkyria tossed her. James and Giulia have been paired together since James came to WWE Smackdown, where she took on the role of Giulia’s “representative” and ally.
