Donovan Dijak Recalls Cody Rhodes’ Viral Chair Shot To Him In 2017

Donovan Dijak recently looked back at Cody Rhodes’ infamous chair shot to his face back in 2017. The moment took place at ROH Undisputed Legacy in March of that year and saw Rhodes hit Dijak in the face with a chair as Dijak was sitting on another chair, and quickly went viral online because of its viciousness. Dijak spoke about the moment in his interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, noting that he told Rhodes to “swing away.”

“I told him — and this is a direct quote and I’ll remember it, because he said it a lot of times after,” Dijak said. “I told him, ‘I want you to be Barry Bonds, just swing away.’ [laughs] And he was like ‘okay if that’s what you want.'”

He continued, “The most viral video of it was like a fan holding a grainy cell phone camera, because it was back in 2016 or 2017. And the fan’s like screaming, like ‘OOOH!'”

Rhodes and Dijak faced off three more times in 2017 after that, with Dijak getting the next win at Blitzkrieg !P Ruby Soho three weeks later but Rhodes winning the final two bouts in Northeast Wrestling.
