Hiromu Takahashi bid farewell to New Japan Pro-Wrestling at last night’s New Beginning in Osaka event.

Last week, NJPW announced that the multi-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion would be leaving the company after The New Beginning in Osaka event.

Last night, Takahashi opened the show alongside Taiji Ishimori, as the Unbound Co. duo battled United Empire’s Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young in a tag team match. They ended up winning the bout.

In the main event, Yota Tsuji retained the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Jake Lee, following which he invited Unbound Company to the ring.

During his final address to NJPW fans, Hiromu admitted that he still dreams of capturing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship but has put that dream on hold for now. The 36-year-old kept the door open for a future return, choosing to say ‘See you later’ rather than goodbye. He then posed with his stablemates in what were incredibly emotional scenes.

This ends Hiromu Takahashi’s 16-year stint with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. During his time with the company, he captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship five times. Additionally, he is a one-time IWGP Tag Team Champion and a one-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion. He also won the World Tag League with Tetsuya Naito in 2024.
